Event: 25th Annual Cheat River Festival
Location: Albright, West Virginia
Dates: Fri, May 3, 2019 - Sat, May 4, 2019
Trip Organizer: Jordan Ross
This annual event attracts Hoosier paddlers and live stage music fans for a rousing weekend of whitewater, gear and artwork, shopping, truck kitchen delicacies, and stomp-your-feet Bluegrass music, all for a good cause. Oh yes, and the frequent spring rain and quagmire experience and party time under a leaky canopy.
Camping again this year will be at the massively over-crowed and rowdy Teeter's Campground, wet or dry. A small cadre of Hoosier paddlers has volunteered to travel to Teeters a day or two in advance and secure a camp site for us, so if you plan on camping with us PLEASE let Jordan know if you are coming and when in order to reserve sufficient camping space.
We will be staying at Teeters and paddling Saturday and Sunday. Some may be paddling Friday as well. Nearby river choices, depending on ability and water levels, include the Cheat Canyon, the Cheat Narrows, various Forks of the Cheat, Upper and Lower Yough, and the Big Sandy.
