Please join us as we partake our 14th annual East Fork White River float in south central Indiana. Over the years I have provided a variety of six different sections of laid-back paddling on one of the most sandy beached rivers ofIndiana. Our journeys over the years have taken on us on 62.3 different miles from : Columbus to Azalia 2016, Azalia to Rockford 2013 and 2022, Seymour to Brownstown 2010 and 2020, Brownstown to Medora 2018 and 2021, Brownstown to White/Muscatatuck 2011 and Medora to Sparksville 2012 and 2019. In 2014 the Driftwood was paddled, 2015 was rained out and the planned 2017 paddle was cancelled due to flooded conditions. This year our plan will be from Columbus to Azalia for a distance of 11.5 miles with an easy shuttle of 20 miles in total distance. Our meeting time is 10 am @ the Columbus DNR ramp which is located (in view) 500 feet south (downstream) from the SR 46 bridge entering Columbus on the east bank. The put-in is an easy 44 mile drive from the center of Indy via I-65 & SR 46. It is shown on the Delorme Atlas on page 51 B10 where the canoe symbol is located. For best results when crossing the river on the unique, red cabled SR 46 bridge stay in the far right lane and turn right immediately after crossing the bridge then turn right quickly again and follow the road 800 feet to the large parking lot and DNR (sign) ramp. Our take out will be at the DNR access site next to the (CR 800 south) Azalia bridge. The width of the stream will vary greatly due to summer conditions from 100 to 250 feet. You will experience some of the states longest sandbars providing ample opportunities for a lunchbreak. The reliable East Fork is one of only a hand full of Hoosier streams that can be paddled in near drought conditions that we are experiencing at the time of this write up (mid June). Throughout the years we have had as many as 16 paddlers and once only three showed up. Please contact me by e-mail at canoeindiana@yahoo.com or by phone @ 812 767-1317 no later than 9pm on Friday ,July 14. Please call if lost or running late (it has happened numerous times) as I will have my cell with me. Sincerely,

Richard Tekulve, trip leader of the East Fork since 2010.
