Summit Lake Spring SUMMER Paddle - July 29, 2018
Since we missed our annual spring paddle ……How about a SUMMER paddle on Summit Lake ? Great time of year and lake for a “Planned Swim”

Schedule:
Launch time: 10:00 AM (or as early as the group wants to start)
Meet at the Kayak Launch adjacent to the Main Boat Ramp (directions below)) Length: 2-3 hours, 6-8 miles

Equipment Requirement:
Touring and Flatwater Kayaks
Summer Safety Gear Appropriate for skill level.
Skill Requirement: Ability to maintain a moderate pace for 2-3 hours in the conditions the day presents.
KAYAK LAUNCH: After passing the entry gate turn right at the “T” and the road ends at the Kayak Launch.
You will need a 2018 State Park Boat Permit.
We will probably stop about half way a brief lunch /snack.
SUMMIT LAKE:
Summit Lake is the major feature of Indiana's 19th state park. Established in 1988, 800 acre Summit Lake was formed by damming Big Blue River and other smaller tributaries. Summit Lake is very near the highest point in the state (hence the name Summit) so please be aware that wind and waves canvbe moderate...1-2 ft depending on the weather so a spray skirt is required.
Directions: Summit Lake State park is located northeast of New Castle and southeast of Muncie From Mt Summit, IN (Highway 3 and 36 intersect here) travel 4 miles east on Highway 36 to Messick Road and then north 1 mile to the park.
