LOCATION:                 Summit Lake State Park

DESCRIPTION:        Summit Lake State Park is 2680 acres including an 800 acre lake, shady wooded areas and lots of open space where wildlife and bird watching abound.

Summit Lake State park is located northeast of New Castle and southeast of Muncie. The park is 1 mile north of State Highway 36 on Messick Road, 4 miles east of Highway 3.

LAUNCH SITE:           Boat Ramp located near Boat Rental building- Turn left at T intersection just past the park gate entrance. (Both day paddle and moonlight paddle)

ITINERARY:

Friday Aug 14                Arrive and camp overnight (optional)

Saturday Aug 15     

10:30am           Be ready to launch. Daytime paddle and picnic lunch 3-4 hours 8- 10 miles. Afternoon skill practice or kayak games if there is an interest  

7:30 pm            Be ready to launch. Evening paddle 2-3 hours 5-6 miles. Campfire   and Camping overnight (optional)

Sunday Aug 16  TBD. Morning paddle or hiking

Summit Lake is less than an hour from Indianapolis so, those not interested in camping can join us on Saturday

CAMPING:             LIMITED CAMPSITES: A few people have campsites and      can accommodate a few tents. Contact trip sponsor to check        availability. Additional campsites are reserved through Reserve                                America.

REGISTRATION:      Please register on the club web site or email trip sponsor                                         for more information

EQUIPMENT:           PFD and safety equipment. (Boat length >14’) A white light for                                 your boat is required for the evening paddle.

GENERAL:                You will need a 2020 Indiana DNR Nonmotorized Boat Permit                                  available at park entrance or on line.  

Covid-19 Safety:

To minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, we will be following the HCKC Corona Virus Guidelines which includes maintaining social distancing. All participants should bring personal protection items such as face mask and sanitizer.

Please complete the Waiver/ COVID Screening Form the day prior to the event and submit to the Trip Sponsor/Lead ( include TEMPERATURE). Anyone experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or direct exposure as detailed on the form, should not attend the event.
