Okay, this was just a personal day-paddle up on Summit Lake but I thought that I would post it here because it's a cool place to go.   Summit Lake is about 1 hour NE of Indianapolis in Summit Lake State Park near New Castle and motorboat traffic is limited to idle speed.

The greatest thing about this lake is that the water is really CLEAR.   You can see bottom in even 10 feet of water.     Two of us  paddled the perimeter of the lake and it makes for a 10-12 mile paddle depending how deeply you go up the different bays.    A good place to practice rolling due to the water quality.

There are several beavers lodges about the lake and you see the paths made in the bottom where the beaver swim in and out of their lodges.  Early this year, we were there just about sunset and actually saw the beaver.   There is an Osprey's nest at the south end of the dam.

if you have polarized glasses, bring them since they allow you watch the fish in the water.    They rent kayaks/canoes there if you don't have your own boats.
